Business ambassadors raise new Midlothian Food and Drink 'banner' at Good Food Show in Glasgow With an open invitation to 'Taste the difference with Midlothian Food and Drink' this 'brand-new' logo is aimed at boosting trade for local businesses and encouraging inward tourism to the county. And the Midlothian Food and Drink logo will be used 'in action' for the first time by local food and drink producers and retailers at the Good Food Show, which is being held at the Scottish Exhibition Centre in Glasgow from 21-23 October 2011. Working in partnership with Midlothian Council, the new logo was developed by Midlothian Tourism Forum following industry feedback on the recent publication of Midlothian’s first Food and Drink Directory. Councillor Adam Montgomery, Provost of Midlothian, is pictured here helping to raise the Midlothian Food and Drink banner, accompanied by Gordon Renwick Creme De La Cupcake Bonnyrigg, Cosmo Tamburro Cosmo Products, Bonnyrigg and Lynn Mann Supernature Cold Presses Rapeseed Oil, Gorebridge who are exhibiting some of Midlothian's finest food and drink at the Good Food Show. Andrew McDonald, Vice-Chair, Midlothian Tourism Forum, said; "The Midlothian Food and Drink Directory is already an important source of information for both locals and visitors to Midlothian - and by developing a new logo for the brand, we aim to increase local knowledge and encourage people to shop and eat locally, supporting local businesses and our wider economy." Councillor Montgomery added; "The Scottish Government declared 2010-2011 as the Year of Food and Drink. However, food and drink will continue to be one of the most important sectors for Midlothian tourism - and indeed the Scottish economy - for many years to come." "So we hope the new logo will help to further build on recent tourism achievements and - on behalf of Midlothian - I wish the new Food and Drink brand ambassadors every success at the Good Food Show in Glasgow." The aim of the Year of Food and Drink is to encourage consumers to discover, buy and enjoy the food and drink produced on their doorstep and building Scotland's reputation as a 'Land of Food and Drink'. |
