Midlothian's Homecoming

Tap into the Midlothian Homecoming Events Legacy Fund for 2010

The Homecoming Scotland 2009 programme helped attract thousands of ‘home-comers’ and tourists alike to Scotland – including Midlothian - this year.

But even although the programme has now concluded, local groups now have the opportunity to keep the Homecoming flag flying in Midlothian in 2010 – thanks to the Midlothian Homecoming Events Legacy Fund.

Grants of up to a maximum of £1,000 are available now to help local businesses, voluntary organisations and community groups organise tourism events in 2010 - on condition that these are linked to the key themes of the 2009 Homecoming programme, ie; -

  • - Golf
  • - Whisky
  • - Robert Burns
  • - Culture and Heritage, and
  • - Great Minds and Innovation

Councillor Russell Imrie, Midlothian Council cabinet member for Strategic Services, said; “The Homecoming Programme brought thousands of people to Scotland this year to celebrate our culture and heritage.

“And thanks to the Midlothian Homecoming Event Legacy Fund, we aim to keep the momentum going by celebrating Midlothian’s own culture and traditions to attract more visitors and tourists to the area in 2010.

Midlothian Council is working In partnership with the, Midlothian Tourism Forum and Midlothian Voluntary Action to support the Midlothian Homecoming Event Legacy Fund.

Funds are now available and if your business, community group or voluntary organisation would like to apply, please contact Sandy MacMillan, Project Officer, at Midlothian Council, tel 0131 271 3437 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or pick up an information leaflet at your local library or visit the website – www.midlothian.gov.uk/tourism
