Newbattle Abbey
Set in its own parkland and surrounded by ancient trees, Newbattle Abbey College is a 16th century house which occupies the site of a 12th century Cistercian Abbey. The Abbey was founded in 1140 by King David lst of Scotland. The house was modified by William Burn in 1836 and David Bryce in 1858. Restoration of the stunning Drawing Room was completed in January 2007.
