County Hotel
60 years of History at the The County Hotel
The history of The County Hotel in Dalkeith dates back 60 years. In 1947, an Italian family “The Coppolas”, took over the “General and Furniture Dealer Shop” on number 152 of Dalkeith High Street. As an Italian family, well known for their prodigious abilities in ice-cream making, Mrs Coppola opened a little ice cream and coffee shop in 1948. Soon, this small business evolved into the popular County restaurant and became the local hub of Midlothian. Due to their success, the family run business decided to move into the hospitality industry. A complete refurbishment along with the addition of the Rendezvous Bar allowed the family to offer their customers a wide range of Scottish delicacies in addition to a first class accommodation.
Sixty years have passed and The County Hotel still remains true to its roots. Committed to moving forward the hotel holds a firm believe in developing stronger relationships with local business partners. Reflected in its new corporative image and its slogan “moving forward”, The County Hotel is striving to provide the latest services needed for modern life. Two new services will become available in February; the public Internet coffee shop, and the wireless connection throughout the hotel rooms. These are just two examples of the new approach taken by the County.
In order to commemorate 60 years of history, The County Hotel will be holding a free entry exhibition during the month of February. The exhibition “Those wonderful years” will bring together old pictures of Dalkeith and surrounding areas during the last century, and will have a remarkable opening dedicated to a networking event reserved for local business.
