| Midlothian traditional music legends, Battlefield Band, are to perform in Musselburgh ahead of Tour |
|
In the Temple-based band's only scheduled Scottish date this year, the Musselburgh gig will feature songs and tunes, old and new, written by Battlefield Band, Norman Buchan, Alan Reid, Alasdair White, Allan MacDonald, Mike Katz, Brian McNeill and Nina Simone. The band are promoting their new album, "Zama Zama ...try your luck.." which is a timely collection exploring greed, the pursuit of wealth and its effects. Since the release of the album late last year, the hardworking quartet embarked on the "Milestone Tour Celebrating their 40th anniversary", playing 22 dates in Germany, Switzerland and France earlier this year. Though named after the Battlefield area of Glasgow, the band are based in Temple, Midlothian, with record label Temple Records based in a converted church in the village. They play at Musselburgh's Brunton Theatre at 7.30pm on Monday, March 1. To win a tickets for the concert, see this week's Advertiser. |
