Midlothian Themed Tourism Event Fund - Financial support is now available for event organisers in Midlothian.

Inspired by the Scottish Government themed legacies of "Scotland: the Land of Food & Drink" and "Active Scotland", Midlothian Tourism Forum in partnership with Midlothian Council have launched the Midlothian Themed Tourism Event Fund.

These national legacies help to celebrate the fantastic produce Scotland has to offer and raise Scotland’s profile as an active country inspiring its people and visitors to take part in sport and physical activity.

And here in Midlothian we want to help celebrate traditional locally sourced food and enjoy being active.

So if you are organising an event in 2011 and you think your event fits in with either of these themes then you may be eligible for financial help.

The objectives of the event fund are to:

  • Support a new or enhance an existing event;
  • Deliver additional tourism visits and revenue for Midlothian;
  • Raise awareness of local food and drink and/or encourage active lifestyles; and

  • The Midlothian Themed Tourism Event Fund can provide support up to 90% of event costs with a ceiling of £4,000. Applications are open to constituted community groups, social enterprises, groups of micro or small businesses, voluntary organisations or public sector bodies in Midlothian.

The Fund will be officially launched Thursday 10th February 2011 at Newbattle Abbey.
